Tracey E. Pinkston, J.D., M.D.
We are happy to offer LDA (low dose allergy immunotherapy) to treat a wide range of food, inhalant, and chemical sensitivities, and some autoimmune conditions. This treatment is natural and uses homeopathic concentrations of allergens (rather than high concentrations for your body to try to "get used to") given in a special way to turn off antibody production to things normal in your environment, such as foods. The treatment has a very high success rate and exceptional safety record, with no anaphylaxis or any other serious reactions occurring from it. It has a very long track record since its development in the UK under the name EPD ("enzyme potentiated desensitization"), where it has been used with great success and safety for nearly half a century!
Watch a short video for a good overview to this therapy. This is approximately 8 minutes long and created by an AAEM colleague, Dr. Wycroft. He gives an excellent overview of LDA and its use in treating allergies. The use of LDA for autoimmune diseases is virtually the same. This YouTube video will provide you with the basic information you need to start understanding LDA.
Dr. W.A. Shrader developed LDA for use in the U.S. and was the lead clinical investigator for the U.S. clinical trials. See also Dr. Shrader's website for more information about this wonderful treatment!
